The 45mm deep 303 NSW is built for a singular purpose: to be fast, everywhere. But the 303 NSW is no ‘race day only’ wheelset to be tucked away in a wheel bag until a race number is pinned to the rider’s jersey. It’s built to take the abuse of everyday training rides, Gran Fondos, and wandering adventures. Zipp has achieved this reliability at a lighter weight with a revised carbon fiber layout developed through testing on the famed cobbles of the Arenberg Forest with the world’s fastest riders. The 303 NSW Tubeless features a 19mm internal rim width and corresponding outer rim shape for aerodynamic optimization with 25mm tires. This wheelset allows you to run tubeless or traditional clinchers. The benefits of tubeless include superior flat protection, the ability to run lower pressures, and a smoother ride with high cornering grip and low rolling resistance.

Showstopper

In developing the original 303 wheels, Zipp discovered that a wider rim increases lateral stiffness for sprinting and cornering while also providing greater vertical compliance for greater control, comfort and durability. That wider rim profile led ZIPP to develop our Firecrest technology, which revolutionized aerodynamic efficiency and stability for carbon wheels. The proprietary Firecrest rim shape optimizes the aerodynamic profile of the front half and - here's the revolutionary part - the back half of the wheel. Firecrest moves the wheel's center of pressure to be more in line with the steering axis for stability in even the stiffest crosswinds. All of that innovation along with the precision control of disc braking gives you a wheel that's as smooth as it is tough.

ABLC Sawtooth

Zipp`s Sawtooth dimple Design consists of 12 nodes that are specifically clocked to start aerodynamic shearing at a rate of 50hz at a rider speed of 12mph. Sawtooth accomplishes this by inducing small sheet vortices that shed a low magnitude, but at a higher natural frequency, thus decreasing the laminar bubble effect on the aerodynamically shielded side of the rim`s profile to further reduce high yaw drag and improve crosswind stability.

About the Cognition hub

With the Cognition hubset’s Axial Clutch technology, Zipp has reduced this drag by disengaging the ratchet mechanism when coasting. So you can approach corners at higher speeds, and ultimately, save time. A star-flanged straight-pull hubshell design on the rear hub distributes the load placed on the hub flange away from the bearings. They’ve also developed a unique scalloped edge hubshell design for the front hub. This scalloped design maintains the bearing bore diameter when high radial spoke tension is applied. That means you get bearings that quietly stay in place, roll faster, last longer, and provide a laterally stiffer hub.
